Severe thunderstorm predictions didn’t stop the Sunday Couples golfers! As it usually happens, Babbitt missed the inclement weather and a beautiful night of golf was enjoyed.
Last week’s theme of skillful putting by the women held true again. What did change was that the host team of the Vandervests and Linds did not take first place. They took third place shooting a one under par 34. They said there were no hot putters in their group, but rather all contributed to their under par shooting.
The team of Julie and Doug Keseley/Pam and Doug Maki took first place shooting a 31 thanks to Julie’s extremely hot putter. She sank long birdie putts getting accurate reads from Pam. The girls’ hole was #7 as they used their shots alone.
Coming in a close second shooting 3 under par 32 was the team of Lynn and Bruce Edman/Joanie and Dave Youngman. They too, had a hot putter in their group as Joanie sank several long putts, giving thanks to the accurate reads given to her by Bruce and Dave. Lynn was spot on when it came to chipping onto the green on #9 and also sank a nice long birdie putt. Bruce and Dave were the drivers and long fairway shot makers.
Coming in fourth place was the team of Joni and Lee Serena/ Diane and Todd Ahlquist shooting even par. For their team, Diane putted well and Lee got their only birdie on #3 with his drive and putt. They were hunting for a participation trophy! Another highlight for the evening was congratulating Bruce and Lynn on their 46th anniversary they were celebrating that day. Hosts for the next Couples Golf, Sunday, Aug. 4 will be the Serenas and Makis. We welcome all couples golfers to join us for a fun evening of scramble golf. Please sign up by 3 p.m. that day. Shotgun start at 4 p.m.
