BEST wins league championship

BEST baseball majors finished in first place with a record of 10-1 during the 2024 season leading all league teams. East Range Little League includes the following teams Best, Cherry, Cook, Hoyt lakes, Mt. Iron, Twin Lakes.

BEST played Cherry in their opening game of the league tournament. BEST beat Cherry by a score of 11-1 behind a solid pitching performance by Kooper Dostert to advance to the championship game. BEST downing a tough Cook team to finish as the league champions.

The game began with Cook jumping out to a three-run lead with BEST to follow with one run in the bottom of the first. Cook would score two runs in the second, BEST would score one in the third, with Cook to score one in the fourth.

The score would remain Cook 6-2 until the bottom of the sixth when BEST tied the game off the hits of Kason Dostert (in-the-park home run), base hits by Kooper Dostert, Nixon Levens, Braden Jonas and a clutch hit by Liam Parks to drive in the fourth run of the inning to tie the game.

The score was tied in the seventh and it wasn’t until the bottom of when a walk was given to Braden Jonas that things might change. Jonas then stole two bases to get into scoring position. Jonas crossed home plate off the hit by Jimmy McCarter to make BEST this year’s Nanti League Champion.
