Nighthawks fall in playoffs

The Northeast Range volleyball team fell to Chisholm in the first round of the Section 7A playoffs. Host Chisholm advanced to play Ely with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday night 24-26, 15-25 and 21-25.

“Bummer, but comparatively we sure had a successful season. The improvement in this team was amazing! They were fun to watch and the matches we did lose were close fun games to the end,” said Head Coach Misty Roseth.

“Losing four seniors will be a tough loss. Their skill/ talent will be so missed. We have little numbers so our goal is to just keep a team going for NER in the future. The MSHSL/county rules nearly make it impossible for little teams like us to survive, but we will keep fighting till the end!”

Stats from Chisholm:

• Freshman Peyson Roseth 10-10 serves, 2 ace blocks, 4 kills, 7 digs

• Sophomore Chloe Jeneskela- 9 digs, 1 ace serve

• Junior Ezra Chamberlin- 3 kills

• Senior-Else Bee-2 blocks, 1 ace serve, 8 kills, 8 digs

• Senior Maizy Sundblad-5 kills, 14 set assists “Danica Sundblad did phenomenal serving this season. She missed three serves ALL season and she’s one of the best diggers I’ve ever encountered in my 20 years of coaching! She flies across the court EVERYWHERE! 17 digs tonight. Such a solid player and caring teammate!” said coach Roseth.

• Sophomore Kaydence-6 kills, 10 digs. “Her hitting has again improved leaps this season! It’s amazing!

“What a fun team. It was great coaching them this season!”

Northeast Range Students were able to find out about different career choices when a Career Day was held at the school on Oct. 16.
