The state of Minnesota has released the aid amounts from a $30 million appropriation by the Legislature. Both Rep. Roger Skraba (R-Ely) and Sen. Grant Hauschild (DFL-Hermantown) voted for the funding.
In Babbitt, the city will receive a total of $114,770.07 in the one-time funding. This is broken down to licensed provider aid (20%) of $26,898.88, square mileage aid (40%) of $50,315.04 and response volume aid (40%) of $37,556.15.
For Ely, the one-time funding total is $290,036.50. This is broken down to licensed provider aid (20%) of $26,898.88, square mileage aid (40%) of $196,322.61 and response volume aid (40%) of $66,815.01.
The Tower ambulance service will be subsidized for $133,012.9. The Bois Forte Ambulance Service will receive $70,818.58.
Ely’s award was the fourth highest in the state, trailing only Lake County Ambulance Service at $342,342.92, Lifecare EMS in Roseau at $330,198.77 and Lake of the Woods Ambulance at $294,170.29
