Justin Hirdler shot a 37 on day one of play and was one down going into the final round of the Men’s Club Championship that was played Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.
Brother-in-laws Doug Keseley and Jeff Krensing each fired 36s on the first day of play followed by both shooting 38 on the final day giving them 74s.
Justin was even with them after 17 holes of play and decided to pull out his driver on #9, a risky move, but he was aiming for a birdie and fired his drive to within seven feet of the green. A chip up and one putt gave him his birdie win shooting a final nine hole round of 36. His 73 earned him the championship by one stroke. Jeff took second place over Doug on a scorecard playoff. Other Flight Winners were: First Flight: 1st place: Pete Opland 83, 2nd place: Jim Butler 86. Second Flight: 1st place: Bill Hammond 82 with scorecard win over 2nd place Doug Vollom who also shot 82.
Third Flight: 1st place: Curt Kovisito 87, 2nd place: Kenny Frank 91. Fourth Flight: 1st place: Bill Chinn 95, 2nd place: Tim Morcom 96. Congratulations to all the winners.
Regular Men’s Day was played as well on Sept. 4 with the following results: Mark Youngman and John Youngman both shot 36 for low gross; Barry Sherwood had a 32 for low net. Proximities: Closest to the Pin: Justin Hirdler fired to within 2’1” on #3 and on #7 Doug Vollom came to within 11’ 4”. The longest putt on #4 was made by Shawn Sampson 9’10” and Ellert Rathbone sank a 9’3” putt on #9.
