Mike was born on May 24, 1949 in Ely, Minnesota to Joseph and Evelyn (Elioff) Prijatel. He graduated from Ely High School in 1967 and then completed Vermillion State Junior College in 1969. Mike attended the University of Minnesota where he earned the degree of Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with distinction in 1971 and Master of Business Administration in 1978.

Mike worked as a mechanical engineer and manager for several manufacturing businesses until 2011 when he started delivering medications as a courier. He was dedicated to his work, and took pride in knowing that he was helping care for so many people.

Mike married Antoinette “Toni” Okasich on June 20, 1970. Mike was a father figure for Toni’s sister, Mary Beth (Okasich) Borgia. In 1985, Mike and Toni welcomed their daughter, the joy of their lives, Rachel. Mike was an incredible father and enjoyed playing with his daughter, sharing his love of mathematics, and going for walks together. Eventually, Mike was promoted to “Grandpa” to Rachel and her husband Adam’s daughters Augustine and Zephyrine. Family was the most important thing in the world to Mike.

Mike enjoyed taking diligent care of the birds in his backyard. He was a fan of the Minnesota Wild and even a bigger fan of good food. Mike was an excellent cook and baker.

Mike is survived by his wife, Toni Prijatel of Owatonna, MN; daughter Rachel (Adam) Stange of Austin, MN; grandchildren, Augustine and Zephyrine Stange of Austin, MN; brothers Jerry (Carol) Prijatel of Sauk Centre, MN, Joey (Rusty, significant other) Prijatel of Aurora, and Peter (Cec) Prijatel of Virginia, MN; sistersin- law Mona (Tim) Trembath of Thornton, CO, and Evie Haverkost of Mountain Iron, MN; nieces, cousins, and other friends and relatives. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Evie Prijatel of Ely, MN, his sisterin- law, Mary Beth Borgia of Owatonna, MN, sister-in-law Alice Prijatel of Ely, MN, and nephews, Jason and Michael Trembath of Thornton, CO.

A visitation is pending and will be scheduled after Toni undergoes cancer surgery. A family memorial and burial will be held this summer in Ely, MN.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the family.
