Philip J. Klun

Philip J. Klun, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and wife Marcia. He was born on April 2, 1942, in Ely, Minnesota, to Anton and Julia (Pishler) Klun. Phil was a man of integrity and deep devotion to his family.

Phil’s life was marked by a commitment to service and adventure. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Class of 1964. Following college, Phil served with honor in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. On July 29, 1972, he married the love of his life, Marcia Helf, with whom he shared over five decades of cherished memories.

Professionally, Phil dedicated many years to the State of Wisconsin, excelling as a supervisor in the DWD Fraud Division. Outside of work, Phil found solace in nature, especially during his frequent fishing trips to the Boundary Waters and Canada. He was also known for his meticulous care of his home and property, earning him the affectionate title of “professional putzer.”

Above all, Phil cherished his role as a devoted family man. His children Daniel (Christie), Sarah (Crawford) and Peter (Tara), and his six grandchildren, Ethan, Ellie, Devin, Vanessa, Alex, and Abby, brought him immeasurable joy. Phil’s gentle demeanor and ever-present smile endeared him to all who knew him.

Phil is survived by his beloved wife Marcia, (nee Helf), his children, grandchildren, and his siblings: Geraldine, Jerome (Harriet), Robert, Thomas (Peg), and David (Carol), along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9:30-11:00 AM at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert the Great Drive, Sun Prairie, WI 53590, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
