MacCoy, DeBeltz double medalists

Two Ely students came home with medals in two divisions at the second event of the 2024 archery season.

Ely’s End of the Road Archers were led Saturday by Aspen MacCoy and Cylvia DeBeltz, who both brought home bullseye and 3D medals.

MacCoy won the 3D division for fifth-grade girls and was second in the bullseye division for the same age group.

DeBeltz, meanwhile had third-place finishes in the high school girls standings in both 3D and bullseye. She also joined the 50-point club with a perfect score on the coyote and racked up scores of 282 (bullseye) and 277 (3D) for the day.

MacCoy finished atop her standings with 223 in 3D and added a 249 in bullseye to place second overall.

The only other top-five finisher for Ely was Hayden Weidemann, who scored 273 to take fifth among middle school boys.

Scoring 3D personal bests for Ely were Blake Houde, Levi Mattila, Max Ice, Taylor Hren and Trynn Weisinger, while Ely’s bullseye personal bests went to Blake Houde, Bryce Houde, Elam Moran, Mattila, Mason Lee, Ice, Ryker Russ and Talan Hart.

Ely also had a notable achievement with compliments from multiple opposing team coaches. They commended Ely’s archers for their sportsmanship and willingness to step in and help younger archers, on any team, learn and grow.
