Gerald Mathew Thoren

Gerald Mathew Thoren died of natural causes over the Christmas holiday at the age of 69.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jerry Dean Thoren (Kainz); and his father Milton Thoren.

He is survived by his chihuahua sidekick, Bella; his mother, Margaret Thoren; his siblings, Connie Herrud, Susan Danisch and Larry Thoren; and several nieces and nephews.

Born June 7, 1953, Jerry was a lifelong resident of Ely, MN. As a Vietnam era vet, Jerry spent several years stationed around the world. He brought back an extensive knowledge of the areas he spent time in and shared his memories with family and close friends. Jerry was a passionate target shooter, chihuahua rescuer and truth seeker who enjoyed working on cars and collecting model cars.

Jerry had a hard life, but he will be remembered by those who knew him as a gentle, compassionate, kind person who was always willing to help others and believed strongly in accepting people for who they are. Jerry will be missed.
