Frank Mathew Jaeger, passed away at the age of 86 on June 3rd at his home in Babbitt. He was born on October 23rd, 1934 to Frank and Mary (Musich) Jaeger in Ely, MN. He was a 1952 graduate of Ely High School, attended Vermilion Junior College, then graduated from the University of MN School of Pharmacy in 1956.
Frank married Lorraine (Snell) on September 29, 1956 in Ely. They moved to Babbitt in 1959 where he owned Babbitt Drug and worked as the pharmacist for 52 years until his retirement in 2011.
Frank was very active in many community organizations over the years including: the Babbitt Fire Dept, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, Bowling Association, Businessmen's Association, Golf Association, American Legion Post #535, Welcome Wagon, Ely hospital board, First Bank board, Peter Mitchell Days committee, Winter Carnival committee, and Charter Member of the Lions Club having received the Melvin Jones Award. He was also a strong supporter of school athletics very seldom missing a home game or by donating to their fundraisers. He was also an avid fan of the MN Twins and the Gophers. Frank enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing along with time spent at the cabin with family.
Frank is survived by his children; Connie (Curt) Koivisto, Carleen (John) Flint, Mike (Sandy) Jaeger, Jim (Kevin) Jaeger, Mary (Mark) Bodine, daughter-in-law Theresa Jaeger. Grandchildren Jenny (Tony) Bee, Joe (Chandra) Koivisto, Eric Flint, Karl Flint, Ryan (Becky) Jaeger, Nicole (Cameron) Jaeger, Isabella Doheny, Kelly (Jonathan) Norton, Kari Bodine, Emily Jaeger, 10 great-grandchildren; Aili, Else, Tracker, Abby, Hunter, Colton, Ashdon, Easton, Miikko, and Tuukka, and sister-in-law Joan (Harold) Boege.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, son Richard, and granddaughter Melissa.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Pius Catholic Church in Babbitt followed by a burial at Argo Cemetery and a celebration of life at the Junction Inn and Suites. Visitation will be on hour prior to services.
