The 2023-2024 Ely Squirts have had a phenomenal season with only a couple games left to wrap up the season. The Squirts played Rock Ridge on Thursday in Babbitt and will face Mesabi East on Feb. 20 in Ely. The season will total 29 games played, and one scrimmage. This season’s record so far is 20 wins and seven losses.

The Ely Squirts played a variety of teams ranging from the Iron Range, Duluth/Hermantown, Grand Rapids and Bemidji to larger Twin Cities programs and have certainly shown their strength on the ice.

They’ve appeared in three tournaments and turned a lot of heads along the way. At the Silver Bay tournament in early December Ely finished second out of eight teams. At the Bemidji tournament in mid-January Ely finished second out of 16 teams and at the Two Harbors tournament in early February Ely finished second out of eight teams.

This team is made up of boys from Ely, Tower and Babbitt in grades three through six.

The 2023-24 Ely Squirt team would like to thank the communities for all the support to the program this season, and a special thank you to the rink managers in Ely and Babbitt. The coaches would like to thank the parents for all their support and dedication to our kids.

To watch their final game of their season head to the Ely Ice Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. as they take on Mesabi East.
