Dorothy Jane (Skeryanc) Harri

Dorothy Jane (Skeryanc) Harri, age 89 of Ely passed away at Boundary Waters Care Center on December 17,2022. Dorothy was born on January 17, 1933 to John and Jennie Skeryanc during the Great Depression with a large family of eight, of which Dorothy was the youngest. Her father worked for the underground Pioneer Mine, the family had a cow, chickens, apple trees and numerous gardens to support the family. Dorothy went on to graduate from Ely Memorial High School and married Allen Harri also of Ely. Allen joined the Air Force and became a jet pilot and rose to the rank of Major. Dorothy was a grand looking officer's wife in the 50' and 60's and supported her husband's career which took them all over the U.S., they retired to Duluth. Dorothy was very religious and sang in the choir at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Duluth MN.
After the passing of her husband Allen, she moved to Grahek Apartments in Ely, Carefree Living and eventually to Boundary Waters Care Center. Dorothy was a very loving and kind person.
Dorothy is survived by her nephew Al Kovall, nieces Deb (Prijatel) Edwards and Jeanne (Kovall) Hanninen of Ely and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in Ely, Babbitt, Alaska, Avon, MN and Oakland, California area.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Jenny Kovall, Molly Palmer, Rose Burns, Ann Prijatel, Francis Skerjanc and brothers Joe and Frank Skerjanc.
