Dolores R. (nee Stricula) Moen

Dolores R. (nee Stricula) Moen, 92 of Valparaiso In, formerly of Ely MN, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021. She was born April 13, 1928 in Chicago IL to John and Mary (née Bulak) Urban. Dolores made her career for many years as a bookkeeper in the Chicago area, before moving to Ely with her husband Ronald. While in Ely she obtained her college degree and also worked with the Federal Forest Dept as a senior citizen employee. After moving to Valparaiso IN Dolores stayed busy with her senior friends with breakfast, bingo and travels all over the world. Dolores will be remembered for her friendly personality and generous nature. She is a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who is dearly missed.
On January 24, 1948 she married Ronald Moen, who preceded her in death in 1983. Dolores is survived by their children: Ronald “Butch” (Patty) Moen of Ely MN, Terry ( Annie) Moen of Hobart IN, Nancy Draus of Chesterton IN , Jo Ann (Art) Stokum of Valparaiso IN; sister Bernice “Bunny” Poag; 19 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Mary Ann Moen; son in law Tom Draus; brothers Ed Stricula and Walter Stricula; and granddaughters Missy Draus and Kim Kubeck.
Following cremation, Dolores will be laid to rest at Ely Cemetery on June 28 at 2 pm along side her husband and daughter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
