Bantams second at “Colder by the Lake”

The Ely Wolves Bantam team finished second place at the Superior, WI “Colder by the Lake” Bantam Tournament. Ely Bantams took second place overall, out of eight teams total at the Superior, WI “Colder by the Lake” Bantam Tournament.

Tournament info: Saturday, Jan. 21: Ely was victorious against Woodbury, winning 3-1. Scoring for Ely was Hunter Halbakken, Owen Marolt, and Jayden Zemke. Assists went to Marolt and Stig Majerus. Lewey Powell was once again in net for the Wolves, and recorded 14 saves.

Ely’s second game on Saturday was against White Bear Lake, and had the Wolves earning the win 7-2. Sean Merriman and Jayden Zemke each scored twice, along with Evan Leeson, Owen Marolt and Hunter Halbakken coming up with goals. Contributing with the assists were Halbakken as well as Marolt and Zemke notching two assists each.

Championship game on Sunday found Ely facing off against Bemidji. Zemke scored unassisted and Merriman got the Wolves 2nd goal, with the assists going to Halbakken and Majerus. Ely fell to Bemidji with a final score of 6-2. Powell ended the game with 14 saves.
