The summer baseball season in Ely begins in about two weeks and registration is underway.
Registration forms are available at Ely Memorial High School from baseball coach Frank Ivancich, or by contacting Tom Coombe at 235-1025 or Tcoombe@aol. com.
Ely will host three teams with the following age cutoffs: • American Legion Open to those born on or after Jan. 1, 2005;
• Junior Legion - Open to those born on or after Jan. 1, 2007;
• Junior League (Iron Range Baseball) - Open to those born on or after May 1, 2009.
A busy summer is set at the local ballpark, with several tournaments on tap, including the season-opening ’Zup North Realty Junior Legion (June 7-9), the DQ Grill and Chill (June 21-23) Midsummer (July 12-14) Legion Classics, as well as the Northeast Substate American Legion Tournament July 20-21, July 24 and July 26-27.
