Four years ago, just days before Babbitt’s Peter Mitchell Days festival, two brave car-guys decided to quickly put together a car show. Rick Monte and Brad Sader’s desire to highlight area cars resulted in the “Come Back to Babbitt” annual Peter Mitchell Days car show.
The first year, with just six days to put the event together, resulted in 46 cars and trucks available for the public to enjoy. The number of vehicles registered for the show has increased dramatically each year since.
Everyone loves to look at beautifully restored cars and trucks and so do Rick and Brad but, they encourage the owners of old cars, new cars, old trucks, new trucks, and even project cars and trucks to enter them in the “Come Back to Babbitt” car show.
The emphasis is on “Car Show,” a chance to let everybody see and admire your vehicle. Even though your car or truck may not be a gorgeous restoration, it will be welcomed.
Cars are not judged, and no trophies are awarded but all entries are appreciated. The random drawings for cash prizes ensure that every vehicle entered has an equal chance of winning!
What started out as a two-guy event has grown to include many volunteers and support from organizations such as the Peter Mitchell Days Committee, Jennifer Kaufenberg’s high school journalism class, Keith Boisner (Speed Pro) and more.
Please plan on attending the Babbitt Peter Mitchell Days celebration being held June 14-16. The “Come Back to Babbitt” car show will be held June 15 from 1-4 p.m. Hope to see locals, alumni, friends, and everyone there!
