Some of us think he parted ways with the normalness in his life at least two dogs ago. He was a certified golden retriever man, then he retired and when his 13-year-old goldy passed, he bought himself a set of cocker spaniels.
It’s a head scratcher why a man who revered goldens like he did, would up and go from a large dog breed to some ankle biters. He says he thinks they will be good hunters one day, only time will tell.
They’re quite the cute pair, endless energy, one end of the couch to the other, bouncing, barking and always wanting in or out, and nose to tail how they chase each other through the living room.
His goldy would lay at his feet, now his feet don’t sit still near as long as they used to. Back in the golden era, a rubber decoy was tossed late summer, not much more than that. These two have dog toys, dog pillows, dog beds, dog training lessons and more vet appointments than the recalls on most new cars today.
They are adorable, certainly in their youth dog years, and maybe they will settle down. Another interesting side effect, he ain’t so sore anymore, says its from walking with or chasing with them two new dogs.
You know they require a great deal of exercise, we nod our heads yes, and we think it’s also a bit to do with the lady on his road who suddenly seems to walk her cocker spaniel about the same number of times a day he does.
