Letter to Editor: Dear Readers; A paper, published in the Journal of Research in Personality, says a dog’s personality reflects the personality of its owner. Research conducted in 2020 surveyed the owners of 1,600 dogs, covering 50 different breeds. The canines were split closely between males and females, and their ages spanned from puppies to adult dogs. After analyzing the data, the researchers found an interesting fact: “dog and owner personalities often mirror each other. Active and outgoing people tended to have canine companions that behaved similarly. Dogs that were anxious or aggressive had owners that possessed more negative personality traits.”
The study explains that friends or relatives often describe a dog’s personality similar to that of the owner and that dogs often act like their owners. “Dogs develop similar personalities to their owners due to various reasons, such as observational learning and emotional bonding. Dogs are perceptive creatures who learn from their owners’ behaviors and often mirror their emotional states. Over time, these behaviors become ingrained, leading to shared personality traits.
Conclusion: It appears that we can often tell a lot about a person from the type of dog that they own.”
Axios, The Times, Business Insider, The Independent, National Review, New York Post, The Telegraph, Washington Times and a host of other news outlets describe President Biden with foul mouth quick-trigger anger issues behind closed doors. Axios reports the president’s admonitions include: “God dammit, how the f**k don’t you know this?!,” “Don’t f**king bullsh*t me!” and “Get the f**k out of here!” among others according to current and former Biden aides who have witnessed or been on the receiving end of such uncontrolled outbursts of anger.
It is common knowledge that Biden is prone to yelling at White House aides behind closed doors and roping them in for “angry interrogations.” The accounts of Biden’s interaction with staff differs with the liberal media’s frequent characterization of the president as jovial Grandpa Bubbles that adores softserve ice cream and aviator sunglasses. Hidden from public view, Biden has such a “quick-trigger temper” that White House aides try to avoid meeting him oneon- one and take a colleague, almost as a shield against a solo blast.
Biden has been hostile with the press throughout his presidency despite the mainstream media’s reliable liberal slant. He called a reporter a “kid,” often talks down to members of the press, called News’ Kelly O’Donnell a “pain in the neck” in the Oval Office, called one reporter a “stupid son of a bitch,” and berates others by telling them to “get educated” or “read the polls Jack.”
Biden’s elder dog Major was sent away for biting and was replaced by a puppy in 2021 named Commander. As of mid-2023, Commander was involved in at least 11 biting incidents at the White House and in Delaware according to Secret Service email correspondence, including a November 2022 incident where an officer was hospitalized after the dog clamped down on his arms and thighs. In another incident an agent was treated by the White House medical unit and received six stitches to his left forearm, as well as antibiotics for the wound.
“The incidents involving Commander were treated as workplace injuries, with events documented in accordance with Secret Service and US Department of Homeland Security guidelines,” a SS spokesperson told CNN in a statement.
When asked by CNN whether any new training had taken place or if any further action would be sought, communications director for the first lady, said in a statement that “the First Family continues to work on ways to help Commander handle the often-unpredictable nature of the White House grounds.” Commander has racked up at least 24 reported attacks that does not include additional incidents CNN has previously reported involving executive residence staff and other White House workers.
Through a FOIA request, a 400+ page Secret Service document detailed a spate of violent attacks, one of which left enough blood on the floor that a White House tour had to be interrupted while it was cleaned up. The documented incidents included members of the Secret Service’s uniformed division, members of the president’s protective detail and other SS officials that took place inside and outside of the White House residence, at Biden family homes in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach, at Camp David, and in Nantucket where the first family spends the Thanksgiving holiday.
Thankfully for Commander, he was sent away to better people, but to blame the dog is disingenuous when all Commander did was reflect the president’s behavior.
