Ely Memorial High School Spring Fling ( Post Prom) for grades 7-9 will be Saturday, April 26. The Junior/Senior Prom will be Saturday, May 3.
Volunteers needed for Arbor Day mulching and community cleanup on April 26 at 9 a.m. Mulching volunteers will meet at Whiteside Park for a brief lesson, while cleanup volunteers can meet at the Trezona Trailhead or softball fields, where bags and vests will be provided—bring gloves if you have them. Ely Community Resource will have a fun activity for kids in the park. Please stay alert, avoid traffic, and ensure children have adult supervision. At noon, volunteers are invited for a free lunch and Ely’s Tree City Proclamation.
The University of Minnesota Extension is offering an in-person class in Ely: A Beginner’s Guide to Growing Cannabis in the Home Garden on Saturday, April 26, 1-4 p.m. at the Boathouse Brewpub. This science-based, introductory class is designed for home gardeners and will cover legal, responsible outdoor cultivation - plant care, site selection, pest management and harvesting. Register at: z.umn.edu/cannabis-classes The 100 Ely Women Who Care giving circle will hold its spring meeting at the Ely Senior Center on Sunday, April 27 starting at 4 p.m. This giving circle is a group of women who gather together to collectively support a nominated and then voted on local 501c(3) non profit organization twice each year and enjoy a potluck of appetizers and desserts. At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, April 29 at 10:30 a.m. the program will be Move and Groove for Preschoolers, for preschoolers with an adult. Get some of those wiggles out to the dance beat as Jessie leads kids in simple dances and stretches. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.
Northwoods Volunteer Connection announced it is now
Friends of the Superior National Forest. Executive director Jo Swanson will be at the Ely Public Library on April 30 at 1:30 p.m. to give a presentation on the Superior National Forest.
Range Astronomy Club will be having an astronomy days event on May 3 at Paulucci Space Theater, 1502 E 23rd Street in Hibbing from 4-9 p.m. It will be free to the public. There will be astronomy information, games and prizes for kids and set up telescopes to view our sky. (Weather permitting).
The May Ely for Ely gathering will be on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 a.m. at the Community Hub (760 Miners Drive) for a nonprofit board governance 101 presentation with Patti Banks, CEO of Ely-Bloomenson Community Hospital. This program is free and open to all with coffee and continental breakfast while supplies last. Attendees will be on their way to their next commitment by 8:45 a.m.
The next Ely Braver Angels Gathering will be Thursday, May 15 at the Senior Center and with the question “How is the Federal Government affecting your life in Ely?”
Ely Memorial High School May music concert is Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. The Washington Elementary spring music program is Thursday, May 22 at 1:15 p.m.
