The Ely Weavers and Fiber Artists group will meet on Monday, April 14, at the Grand Ely at 11:30 a.m. Anyone with similar interests is welcome to join us.

At the Ely Public Library on Monday, April 14 at 3 p.m. there will be a Friends of the Library Book Discussion. The book for discussion this month is Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet. Do not need to be a member to attend.

CANCELED: The Ely Finnish Kaleva group presentation scheduled for April 15 has been unexpectedly canceled.

La Serva Padrona - a comic opera adapted to English by accordion player Steve Solkela - will be playing at Ely’s Historic State Theater on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. Originally written by Giovanni Battista Pergoless, La Serva Padrona stars Jessica Moss (soprano), Steve Solkela (bass) and Branden Taus (mute). Tickets are $20 online at elystatetheater.org or $25 at the door.

The Ely Chapter of Braver Angels has changed the date of the next gathering to Wednesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. and the topic will be immigration. That meeting will be at VCC room CC109.

The next History Happy Hour is on Wednesday, April 16 at 5 p.m. at the Boathouse. Join host, Jess Edberg, executive director of the Dorothy Molter Museum, as she scratches the surface of a local history topic at 5 p.m. at the Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant in less than a half an hour. April’s theme is the interesting and perhaps strange history of Ely’s water treatment for drinking and household use. Water is an integral part of our daily lives and this is the story of how Ely took lake water from miles away and brought it to residential taps.

The April meeting of Ely P.E.O. Chapter FD will be held on Thursday, April 17 at Grace Lutheran Church. Social time will start at 12:30 p.m. with the program and business meeting to follow. Visiting members are welcome. Call program chair Katie Kopp-Nelson, 952-250-7599 with any questions.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. there will be a Curiosity Cohort: Silhouette Cutting for adults. Join the curiosity cohort to learn about the old-fashioned art of silhouette cuts. Please sign up in advance. Sponsored by Friends of the Library.

The St. Louis County Board of Commissioners will meet at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, April 22, at the Winton Community Center. The public comment period commences at 9:30 a.m.

There will be a Community Kitchen at LedgeRock Community Church, 1515 E. Camp Street on April 12 from 5-6:30 p.m.. Come anytime during those hours. There is no cost for the meal.
