Ely will once again serve as a giant marketplace on Saturday, May 17.
That’s the date for the Ely Chamber’s 13th annual City-Wide Rummage Sale Business Crazy Day and Used Equipment and Watercraft Sale.
The one-day event is slated for next month with rummage sale hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. across town.
The day usually features many sales in dozens of homes and garages across town.
The Chamber bills the event as a prime opportunity for people to clean up their basements, attics, sheds and garages and turn them into cash.
Meanwhile, usually about a dozen local businesses also participate in the event, with many offering in-store savings.
The Chamber invites people to come out to “explore dozens of neighborhood rummage sales brimming with clothing, household treasures, and even outdoor and sporting goods.”
Businesses involved generally have in-store and sidewalk sales and outfitters have deals on used equipment and watercraft.
Residents and businesses that would like to participate in the event can stop by the Chamber to register, or they may do so at www.ely.org/ citywide.
Rummage sale registration is $10 and includes a listing on the map along with media advertising, and the Chamber has a limited number of signs to direct people to rummage sales locations. The deadline to register and be included on the maps and lists is May 8.
On May 14, a map will be unveiled listing the venues and businesses that are participating. It will be available at the Chamber including on the day of the event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., as well as online at www.ely.org/citywide.
The event has proven to be popular in its brief history, attracting area residents out for bargains as well as others coming from other communities.
