On April 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, Jackie Clay, a renowned author, homesteader and owner of Seed Treasures, open-pollinated and heirloom seeds in Angora, will share her expert insights on gardening successfully in northern Minnesota, at the Embarrass Town Hall, 7503 Levander Road, Embarrass, Minnesota. At the Babbitt Public Library there will be a program on Wednesday, April 16 at 3:30 p.m. Timber! The sound that echoed throughout the forest of northern Minnesota at the turn of the 19th century when lumber barons, harvesting white pine, opened up Minnesota’s Northwoods to settlement. Join Susan Hawkinson as she tells the raucous and entertaining lumberjack and settler stories and the equally astounding tales of the Joyce lumber baron family from her co-authored book, “Timber Connections: The Joyce Lumber Story,” a past MN Book Award finalist.
