The Ely Events Group is excited for the music line-up this year that will take place during Rock the Park on Saturday, July 5.
“We have two of the favorites from last year - Honkytonks and Hangovers and The Reckoning. We were really impressed with the variety of popular music Honkytonks and Hangovers plays - everyone sings along and has a great time,” said Ely Events Group member Rob Wilmunen. “Then capping the night with always-rocking cover band The Reckoning - people dancing into the night with their classic popular songs.”
The Ely Events Group picked up the band Ranger Things to start the day off. Most band members are from the Virginia area, but they typically live and play in the Twin Cities much of the year.
They have played quite a bit in northeast Minnesota over the past couple of summers as they love spending time near Ely.
“We were able to nab them for the early slot as they already have a gig for later in the evening. We are looking forward to welcoming them to Ely’s Whiteside Park,” said Wilmunen.
Music starts at 4 p.m., so people should get their spots early. The popular Ranger Things band will rock the park right away.
YoungLife will again be organizing and staffing the kid’s fun area, featuring numerous bouncy play activities.
And there will again be plenty of things for kids to do as Zup’s brings back the sawdust pile for all ages and a scavenger hunt plus free watermelon.
“Jimmy Zup did a great job with this last year and we think it can be even bigger in 2025,” said Ely Events Group chair Casey Velcheff. “With the 4th of July on a Friday this year, there should be lots of people around to continue the celebration into Rock the Park on Saturday, July 5.”
Ely Events Groups would like to thank in advance local area businesses and organizations for their generous sponsorships, which allows Ely to continue the fantastic events around the 4th of July.
Remember, Ely’s 4th of July celebrations are about: Family, friends and fun.

Ranger Things originally hails from Virginia, Minnesota in the heart of the Iron Range. It was here, drawn together by a shared love of music, where they formed the bonds of friendship that carries through to this day. Ranger Things maintains a performance schedule in clubs, at festivals, for wedding receptions, and class reunions across the state playing classic rock, pop, and country music from the 1970s to today. Their music brings to life the hits they grew up with in the 70s and 80s, adding a modern twist that sets them apart from other bands. You can expect to hear covers of Johnny Cash and Elvis, Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, all the way to Ramones and Green Day. Ranger Things is excited to share their passion with you and hope that you will join them on this journey.
