Four Ely archers placed in the top-10 at the state 3D archery tournament, earning their tickets to the national tournament coming up in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hayden Weidemann led the way with a sixth-place finish, while teammates Payson Kundinger (seventh), Sawyer Kannas (ninth) and Sabrah Hart (10th) also all cracked the top-10 at the state tournament held in St. Cloud.
Meanwhile, Ely’s entire middle school team has qualified for nationals in both 3D and bullseye, shooting a personal best at state.
Ely is also celebrating its first year with a high school 3D team with nationals qualification.
Add it all up, and every Ely archer that took part in the state tournament is able to move on to nationals - a whopping 25 archers.
Ely’s Taylor Hren fired a perfect at the turkey at state in one of numerous strong performances by the End of the Road Archers.
These Ely archers shot their personal bests:
• 3D - Coco Gillson, Weidemann, Hunter Kosinski, Liam Kurnava, Payson Kundinger, Kannas and Hren;
• Bullseye - Gillson, Jenna Bermel, Kaelyn Puzel and Kannas.
Ely’s End of the Road Archers also extend thanks to state tournament sponsors Ely Family Dental and Zup’s.
The group is also looking for help from those who would like to donate and help sponsor the team’s participation in the national tournament at Utah. Look for further details soon.
