Ely is home to a region archery champion.
Sabrah Hart, a member of Ely’s End of the Road Archers, is Region 2 Girls 3D champion after a first-place finish at the 3D Regional Tournament, held last weekend at Nashwauk.
Hart, a junior, shot 280 to take first place in a meet in Ely the weekend before and carried that momentum all the way to regionals.
She’ll be part of an Ely delegation that will take part in the state competition, slated for March 28-29 at St. Cloud.
Also medaling at 3D Regions was Eve Chase, who had a fifth-place finish in the fourth-grade girls division.
Five Ely archers shot their personal best: Aspen Mac-Coy, Coco Gillson, Kaelyn Puzel, Owen Kurnava and Ryann Schlosser.
Ely’s archers move from 3D to bullseye this weekend, with the Region Bullseye Regional taking place at Mt. Iron.
At the state event, Ely will have 25 archers competing in the bullseye division and 23 will take part in 3D.
Top finishers at state are able to advance to national events at Salt Lake City and Myrtle Beach.
