The Ely Weavers and Fiber Arts Group will meet on Monday, March 10 at 11:30 a.m. at the Grand Ely Lodge.

At the Ely Public Library on March 10 at 3 p.m. will be the Friends of the Library Book Club. The book for discussion this month is Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell. You do not need to be a member of Friends of the Library to attend. Ely for Ely monthly gathering will discuss Entrepreneurship: A Force for Good with Nick Dunnom, Sunbelt Business Advisors on Tuesday, March 11, 7:30 - 8:45 a.m. at The HUB, 760 Miner’s Drive East.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, March 13 at 3 p.m. the program will be Library Scientists: Magnets – for all ages. Learn about what magnets are and how they work with Jessie in this science program for everyone. Please register in advance so that we have enough supplies for everyone. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

The Ely Film Festival, showcasing the work and creativity of independent filmmakers from Minnesota and around the world, returns March 13-16.

On March 15 there will be a Community Kitchen at LedgeRock Community Church, 1515 E. Camp Street. These are held on the third Saturday of the month from 5-6:30 p.m. Come anytime during those hours. There is no cost for the meal.

History Happy Hour delves into the rich history of the Ely, Minnesota area with pint-sized stories that are informative and entertaining in less than a half an hour. The March 19 theme highlights Women’s History Month with the various women who helped make Ely area towns thriving communities. Join host, Jess Edberg, executive director of the Dorothy Molter Museum, as she scratches the surface of a local history topic, inspiring listeners to take a deeper dive on their own. This program is offered as a free, in-person, 30-minute or less presentation October through May, typically on the third Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Boathouse Brewpub & Restaurant in Ely. History Happy Hour is supported in-kind by the Boathouse Brewpub, Ely’s Heritage Preservation Commission, the Dorothy Molter Museum, Boundary Waters Connect and the Ely Folk School.

ECR Art Auction will be held on March 22. This year’s theme is “A Celebration of Artful Living in Ely.” Support programming for local kids by bidding on art from local artists. There will be a live auction, silent auction, and raffle. Catered food provided. Tickets are $10. Viewing/appetizers at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 6 p.m.

Ely Memorial High School Spring Fling ( Post Prom) for grades 7-9 will be Saturday, April 26. The Junior/Senior Prom will be Saturday, May 3.
