Dehnbostel seeking board position; Gruba resigns from Fall Lake board
The race for a town board seat has gone from contested to uncontested to contested again.
Carolyn Dehnbostel is seeking write-in votes for a Morse Town Board set up for grabs in the March 11 election.
The seat was held by the late Len Cersine, a longtime township supervisor who passed away in late January.
Cersine’s name remains on the ballot, along with Mike Velcheff.
Through an email to the Ely Echo, Dehnbostel announced that she would join the race as a write-in candidate.
She described herself as an “elder, worship leader, choir member and volunteer at the Presbyterian Church.”
“I am on the EMPOWER Board, as well as a charter member of the Board for the non-profit organization: The SAGE Foundation (Student’s Achieving Goals Equally),” Dehnbostel wrote. “I facilitated the Ely Racial Justice Group for two years. I’ve been in three recent productions at NLAA, Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods, and Elf - The Musical.”
Dehnboster also owns her own family counseling business, which has offices in Roseville, Burnsville and Duluth.
The winner gains a threeyear term on the board and will join holdovers Terry Sodberberg and Bob Berrini.
Township elections coincide with annual meetings on the same day.
The meetings are convened after polls close in each township and give residents the chance to decide numerous issues, including their respective township property tax levy and annual township budget for the ensuing year.
• Craig Seliskar is running unopposed for a three-year term on the Fall Lake Town Board, but Fall Lake will soon have another vacancy on the three-member board.
Sheila Gruba has announced that she is resigning from her seat, effective immediately. She had just won a three-year term in 2023.
