Vehicle fell off trailer on Hwy. 169
An Ely area resident suffered injuries when the fuel truck he was driving hit an Argo utility-terrain vehicle that had fallen off a trailer on Highway 169.
Chris Schlosser, 45, of Winton, was injured in the Feb. 21 incident, according to a report issued by the Minnesota State Patrol.
According to the report, Schlosser was driving a Superior Fuel Freightliner Tanker Fuel Truck southbound on Highway 169, in Vermilion Lake Township, when a Ford 550 also going southbound lost its Utility Task Vehicle off of its trailer.
The fuel truck subsequently struck the vehicle and Schlosser sustained nonlife threatening injuries.
The Ford 550 was driven by Dawson Sample, 24, of Mahtowa. He was not injured.
Conditions were dry at the time of the incident and alcohol was not a factor, authorities said.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call as did Breitung Police Department, Vermilion Lake Fire and the Tower Ambulance.
