The U.S. Forest Service has dropped two planned open houses for the proposed Fernberg Corridor Project. Instead, the public can view a 30-minute video.
The project includes management activities to reduce hazardous fuel in areas surrounded by the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) on three sides.
Draft environmental assessment (EA) documents for the Fernberg Project are available for review and comment for 30 days, Jan. 15, through Feb. 14.
Previously planned open houses (virtual & in-person) are now replaced with a 30-minute informational video for the public to view. The PowerPoint recording and presentation is on the Fernberg Corridor Landscape Management Project webpage.
The draft EA and supporting documents are available along with the public outreach and scoping documents on the Fernberg Project website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/superior/news-events/?cid=FSEPRD1224544
The Fernberg Corridor interactive map is also available online.
