On Wednesday around 8:12 a.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, EMS and Fire Departments, received a report of a single school bus accident on Olsen Road near the Northwoods School in the city of Cook.
The school bus slid off of the roadway and struck two trees and came to rest against a light pole that was not knocked down.
A total of 31 students and the driver were on board, two students were transported by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident is being investigated by the Sheriff’s office in conjunction with the Minnesota State Patrol. Preliminary indications are that Icy conditions were believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
School officials have been working with and notifying parents in this matter. Investigation into the incident is ongoing.
