Contested race in Morse Township

Mike Velcheff challenging Cersine

One local township will have a contested election, and another will not.

That’s the aftermath of a two-week filing period for upcoming elections in Morse and Fall Lake townships.

Longtime Morse town supervisor Len Cersine faces a challenge in his re-election bid while in Fall Lake, incumbent Craig Seliskar is running unopposed.

Morse residents will choose between Cersine and Mike Velcheff, a current part-time township employee, in the March 11 election. The winner gains a threeyear term on the board and will join holdovers Terry Soderberg and Bob Berrini.

Township elections coincide with annual meetings on the same day.

The meetings are convened after polls close in each township and give residents the chance to decide numerous issues, including their respective township property tax levy.
