Community Kitchen will be held on Jan. 18 at LedgeRock Community Church, 1515 E. Camp Street from 5-6:30 p.m. Come anytime during those hours. There is no cost for the meal.

On Monday, Jan. 20 the Ely Public Library will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 3 p.m. it’s Library Scientists: Invisible Ink – for all ages. Learn about ways to write with invisible ink with Jessie in this science program for everyone. Please register in advance so there are enough supplies for everyone. This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library.

The Northwoods Partners annual board meeting will be on Jan. 21 at the Northwoods Partners office at the Ely Area Community Hub at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming up Jan. 21-24, Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the school Media Center, open to the public. The Ely Alliance of Braver Angels will discuss copper- nickel mining at a gathering on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. at the Ely Senior Center.

The Ely Winter Festival will be held Feb. 6-16.

The Bois Forte Heritage Center and the 1854 Treaty Authority are helping to host the Moccasin Game and Hand Games as led by Terry Goodsky to take part in the Ely Winter Festival. They are being held at the Ely Folk School on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 8-10:30 a.m. Moccasin Games are intended only for men to play but the Hand Games are open to all. Gii comma giizhi dah omah “Let’s have fun here!”

The WolfTrack Classic dog sled race event will start with the WolfTrack Prance on Friday, Feb. 21, 4-7 p.m. at the Grand Ely Lodge. A special Prance menu from 4-6 p.m. Live music from Bernie Palcher from 5-7 p.m. Meet the teams on Saturday, Feb, 22, 3-5 p.m. at the Vermilion Campus - classroom parking area. The Musher all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 4-7 p.m. at the Vermilion Campus cafeteria. The cost will be $10/adult, discounts for youth and students. Race Day will be Sunday, Feb. 23, 9 a.m. start time at the Ely Softball Complex.
