The opportunity is now for getting involved in township government.
A filing period for upcoming elections in both Morse and Fall Lake townships started earlier in the week and will close Jan. 14.
Those filings come in advance of elections in both townships, slated for March 11.
The town board seat held by Len Cersine is up for grabs in Morse, while the Fall Lake election is for the seat held by Craig Seliskar.
Both townships are in the midst of a two-week filing period, with interested candidates required to file by a 5 p.m. deadline on Tuesday. Filing fee is $2.
Morse residents may contact clerk Nick Wognum at (218) 343-2019 and the Morse Town Hall will also be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on the final day of filing.
Fall Lake residents may contact clerk Cheri DeBeltz at 218-365-3835 or in person on Jan. 14 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Fall Lake Town Hall Township elections coincide with annual meetings on the same day.
The meetings are convened after polls close in each township and give residents the chance to decide numerous issues, including their respective township property tax levy and annual township budget.
