Dennis Warner in concert at the Ely Public Library from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 7. Singer-songwriter Dennis Warner draws on his wealth of stage experience in creating a warm, welcoming and intimate concert. He’s released 11 albums and authored the book Beads on One String, now in its ninth printing. Accompanying his vocals on six or 12-string guitar, Warners concert is a blend of serious, thought-provoking songs with lighter, up-tempo material. He’s noted for being an entertainer, bringing the audience into the performance with laughter and maybe a couple of sing-alongs.
Learn how to have “Agreeable Disagreements” with family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and event strangers at the Ely Braver Angels Skills Workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Ely Senior Center.
At the Ely Public Library on Friday, Jan. 10 from 3-5 p.m. the program will be Astronomy Science Stations. Stop by the Ely Public Library to check out some astronomy-related hands-on activities - everything from seeing how scientists can tell if a distant star has planets circling it to how other cultures have stories about different constellations in the night sky. Drop in and do as many stations as you are interested in - open house style. For all ages - younger children may need help with some stations. This program is part of the Ely Dark Sky event in town.
The Ely Dark Sky Festival, a two-day celebration of Ely area dark night skies will be held Jan. 10-11. For more information see http://ely.org/darkskyfest
The Northwoods Partners annual board meeting will be on Jan. 21 at the Northwoods Partners office at the Ely Area Community Hub at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
The Ely Winter Festival will be held Feb. 6-16.
The Ely Film Festival, showcasing the work and creativity of independent filmmakers from Minnesota and around the world, returns March 13-16.
Cribbage is being played at the Zenith Apartments at 965 E. Camp St in Ely on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Join in, have fun. Bring your own snacks.
Northwoods Partners Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Ely Senior Center.
New closed AA meeting; primary purpose men’s group. Will be held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 226 E. Harvey St.
The Ely Senior Bridge League has a weekly session of bridge starting at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ely Senior Center, front room. Reservations are recommended. Call Terry Cooper at 651-230-2117 for more information.

Medical care and fluoride treatments are held on Thursdays at 111 South 4th Ave. E., presented by Ely Community Health Center. Available from 5:30-7 p.m. at no charge. Wednesday Wellness Clinics are held on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
