ELY RACER Logan Larsen was practicing on Fall Lake this week in preparation for upcoming KCPRO-East youth snowmobile races. Larsen will be running the Junior Novice class for the first time. and returns as the points champion in the Pro 206 and Champ Sled divisions. Other Ely races include Levi Mattila and Beau Peterson. The first race of the season is today on Pelican Lake in Orr and Ely’s race is Jan. 11 on Fall Lake. Kids Championship Power Racing Organization originated in 1987 in Thief River Falls, MN. At that time, the club consisted of 18-20 race families traveling from the Iron Range to Thief River Falls with a mission to teach youth, ages 4-17, snowmobile safety while also encouraging friendship, good sportsmanship and family fun. Presently, the club offers 10 racing classes from Beginner 120 to Junior Novice. The competitive ice oval races take place throughout Northeastern Minnesota. At the end of each race event, a celebratory ceremony is held during which each racer receives awards and goodie bags.
