Two Ely leaders have been elected to the board of directors of an Iron Range lobbying organization.
City council member Angela Campbell and school board member Tom Omerza both won seats on the Range Association of Municipalities and Schools board of directors earlier in the month.
They were elected Dec. 19, during the group’s annual meeting and dinner held at Virginia’s Iron Trail Motors Events Center.
Campbell won a twoyear term while Omerza was elected to a one-year position.
They were among 14 board members elected at the meeting.
RAMS, which has offices in Mountain Iron, lobbies on behalf of Iron Range units of government, including cities, school boards and townships.
Under the motto “One Range, One Voice,” the group works to present a united front in St. Paul on issues impacting the Iron Range.
Campbell replaces outgoing city council member Paul Kess and has served as the alternate to Kess on the RAMS board.
Omerza, who just won re-election to the school board in November, steps in on the RAMS board to replace the late Ray Marsnik, the longtime Ely school board chair who passed away earlier in 2024.
