The Winton Community Christmas Potluck will be held Saturday, Dec. 14 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Winton Community Center.

The Ely School District’s junior high and high school band and choir concert is scheduled for Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Washington Auditorium.
Join host Jess Edberg on Dec. 18 at 5-5:30 p.m. in the Boathouse Brewpub’s Lookout Lounge, which will be open 4:30-6 p.m. for History Happy Hour. Take a look at the dark side of Christmas at this month’s History Happy Hour where Krampus - the antithesis of Saint Nicholas (or Santa Claus) and part of the cultural lore traced back to pre-Christian Alpine traditions of northern and central Europe - is the guest of honor. There will also be an ugly sweater contest for those in attendance with third place getting a six-pack of Dorothy’s Root Beer, second place getting a Boathouse Brewpub sweatshirt and a grand prize of a $100 gift card to the Boathouse Brewpub. History Happy Hour is offered on the third Wednesday of the month October-May at 5-5:30 p.m. and is supported by the Boathouse Brewpub, Ely’s Heritage Preservation Commission, the Dorothy Molter Museum, Boundary Waters Connect, the Ely Folk School and Ely Trivia Night.
The Ely School District’s Washington Elementary holiday program is scheduled for Dec. 19 at 1:15 p.m. at the Washington Auditorium.
Community Kitchen will be held on Dec. 21 at LedgeRock Community Church, 1515 E. Camp Street from 5-6:30 p.m. Come anytime during those hours. There is no cost for the meal.
The Ely Alumni Hockey game will be on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Ely Arena. Players who graduated from Ely are welcome to sign up by calling or texting Ammie Peterson at 218-340-1865. The cost is $20 for players.
The Ely Dark Sky Festival, a two-day celebration of Ely area dark night skies will be held Jan. 10-11.
The Ely Winter Festival will be held Feb. 6-16. The Ely Film Festival, showcasing the work and creativity of independent filmmakers from Minnesota and around the world, returns March 13-16.
Cribbage is being played at the Zenith Apartments at 965 E. Camp St in Ely on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. Join in, have fun. Bring your own snacks.
