The 100 Ely Women Who Care giving circle will hold its fall meeting at the Ely Senior Center on Sunday, Oct. 27 starting at 4 pm. The giving circle is a group of women who gather together to collectively support a nominated and then voted on local 501c3 non-profit organization twice each year and enjoy a potluck of appetizers and desserts. At the Ely Public Library on Monday, Oct. 28 at noon it’s How to Say North with the Sutter Brothers – for adults. The Sutter Brothers present a program that blends poems from Bart’s new book with Ross’ versions of songs and tunes from the American, Celtic, and Scandinavian folk traditions. Best known for his baritone voice, Ross also plays guitar, button accordion, dulcimer, and Irish drum. Come hear The Sutter Brothers offer praise for a farm wife famous for kindness and butchering chickens, ragtime lyrics for a river otter, an original hymn to Lake Superior, and much more about our region.
The Ely Braver Angels Alliance next gathering will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Minnesota North College – Vermilion Campus Theater. This will include watching two sections of a film and a brief discussion afterward.
An Ely High School band and choir concert will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
The Ely Chamber of Commerce has announced an upcoming Northwoods Business Incubator session featuring Nick Dunnom from Sunbelt Business Advisors. The session will be Wednesday, Oct. 30, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the International Wolf Center. The topic is “How and Why to Acquire a Profitable Business.” The session is about 50 minutes long and free and open to the public. Space is limited, RSVP to [email protected] or 218-365-6123.
At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. it’s Trick or Treat at the Library for all ages. Stop by the library in costume for a fun treat!

Trunk or Treat at Whiteside Park on Thursday, Oct. 31.
“Elf: The Musical” will be presented by Northern Lakes Arts Association, this must-see production will take you on a magical journey from the North Pole to New York City as Buddy the Elf discovers the true meaning of Christmas and the joy of spreading holiday cheer. NLAA will be bringing back five to six of Ely’s favorite performers from summer shows over the last two years to add extra sparkle and magic to the production. Show dates and times: evening performances: Dec. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7 p.m.; matinee performances: Dec. 14, 15, 20 and 21 at 2 p.m.; pay-whatyou- can performance: Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Shows will be at the Vermilion Fine Arts Theater.
