Ely’s elementary school archery team placed first at a 3D meet held last weekend at Nashwauk.
The first-place team victory was among the highlights for the Ely group, as 12 archers shot their 3D personal best. Five more earned a top-five medal and another eight placed in the top-10.
Nearly half of Ely’s participating archers finished in the top-10 of their respective division, and Ely’s elementary team score of 1,307 was better than any other group by a whopping 189 points. The middle school team from Ely racked up 1,472 points and was fourth.
Individually, Aspen MacCoy shot 239 to take second place among fifth grade girls, while Cylvia DeBeltz was third in the high school girls division at 281.
Ely had fourth-place finishes in both fourth grade divisions, with Ryker Russ (229) in the boys and Abby DeNio (183) in the girls.
Talan Hart shot a 271 to take fifth among middle school boys.
