Letter to the Editor: Last week a young girl came into Canadian Waters and asked if we would put up a poster. Our employee told the girl that we do not put up any posters. We do this to avoid offending anyone and because if we were to put up posters every time we were asked we could cover all the windows in our store. Later the same day that the young girl asked us to put up a poster a notice appeared on “What’s Up Ely? But Better,” a notice that Canadian Waters did not support our military. It was signed Anonymous.
First of all, the lady at the counter was Pam, a woman who has worked for Canadian Waters for many years and she NEVER SAID WE DO NOT SUPPORT THE MILITARY. So, it is easy to see why the notice was signed Anonymous.
It was a lie. Words matter, Anonymous. When you tell a lie there will be people who believe the lie and a person or business can be hurt by the lie.
So, if your intent was to hurt Canadian Waters, I am sure you were successful to some extent. So, Anonymous, I hope you learned a lesson from this because I feel quite certain you would not want anyone to tell a lie about you.
Perhaps next time you will think twice before you lie about something. You might be interested to know that in 2019 Canadian Waters outfitted a trip for nine disabled Veterans from the Bong Center in Superior Wisconsin for a four day canoe trip at no cost to the Veterans.
