On June 24th the Superior National Forest (SNF) issued an Emergency Forest Closure Order 09-09-24-05, for June Storm Restrictions - restricting occupancy and use in several affected areas across the 3-million-acre National Forest.
On June 28, the SNF had 25 roads, one wilderness entry point and no recreation sites closed. The Kawishiwi Ranger District has lifted one road closure and added one spur road as closed. Moose River North Entry Point #16 is reopen. SNF staff encourage interested public to see all related storm updates on the SNFs website - www.fs.usda.gov/superior, under Alerts. Please note that the next storm update will be on Monday, July 1, 2024.

Forest Road Updates
LaCroix Ranger District made no other changes.
Laurentian Ranger District made no changes.
Kawishiwi Ranger District made the following changes:
Reopened FR 459 (North Grassy Road). NOTE-Construction is active on this road. Currently only the base course layer is repaired. Travelers need to be cautious of hazards on this road including trucks hauling, washouts where drivers need to reduce speed, and narrow one-lane road sections. Expect delays during culvert replacement. Drivers should reduce their speeds and drive for the conditions and hazards.
Closed FR 933-FH7 Spur 933 due to flooding impacts to the bridge. The spur is located in the Stony River/McDougal Lakes area off of Highway 1.
Tofte Ranger District made no changes.
Wilderness Entry Point Updates
Reopened Moose River North Entry Point #16.
Trout Lake Portage will reopen on Monday, July 1, 2024.
The area continues to have an on-going travel advisory due to area blow downs (see release June 23), inconsistent water flow in streams and rivers, as well as connected bodies of water. Please be aware of swift, cold water and stay within your skill level and capabilities of those in your party.
