I recently was given the opportunity to wander some of the high school facilities and take a few pictures.
I have been in and out of the high school countless numbers of times during my life but this was the first time by myself with nobody around.
I just wandered the grounds and hallowed halls of Ely Memorial High School and just soaked it in.
As I wandered around several of my own personal memories came rushing back but I was also able to try to listen to the echoes of the thousands of people who have traversed these hallowed halls and grounds over the past 100 years.
Not to get too nostalgic but these walls do talk, if you take the time to look and listen.
My afternoon at the school left me excited about this summer’s All Class Reunion. So far there are over 800 people registered to attend the reunion events.
I hope all those that do attend take the time to reminisce, reflect and talk about their memories of their time at Ely Memorial High School. I am convinced that the walls do talk but nothing tells a better story than the people who attended or worked at the high school over the past 100 years.
I am impressed by the capabilities of Artificial Intelligence but I am convinced nothing can replace the stories that can be told by real human beings.
We are just a few weeks out from the Ely All Class Reunion and the All Class Committee is getting to the finish line on wrapping up all the months of planning. If you are looking for more information or need to register go to the reunion website at www.ElyAll-ClassReunion.com Hope to see as many of you at the reunion as possible. Bring your memories and share. I also hope you have the opportunity to meet and share with Ely grads before and after you.
We all share in a proud tradition. There will be plenty of activities and events to meet up with people.
