Tools for Living With Fire is a one day event schedule for Saturday, June 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Vermilion Community College. Sessions on fire history, creating a land stewardship plan, activities for property owners and preparing for an emergency. Cost is $10 with proceeds to Ely Community Resource. Lunch provided.

At the Ely Public Library on Tuesday, June 18 from 4-5:30 p.m. will be Jigsaw Puzzle and Board Game Swap. Bring in those puzzles and games (please be sure that they have all of the pieces) that you’ve grown tired of playing and swap them for some new-to-you ones instead. Please plan to take home puzzles and games if you bring some in!

On Wednesday, June 19 the Ely Public Library will be closed for Juneteenth.

At the Ely Public Library on Thursday, June 20 at 2 p.m. local author Scott Stowell will be reading from and autographing his book, Back Road Grace. Copies of the title will also be available for sale from the author.

The June meeting of Ely P.E.O. Chapter FD will be held on Thursday, June 20 at EBCH Conference Room. Social will start at 6:30 p.m. with the business meeting to start at 7 p.m. Visiting member are welcome. Call program chair Candy Schindele at 612-703-0379 with any questions.

At the Ely Public Library on Friday, June 21 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be the Friends of the Library Public Booksale at the Ely Senior Center. Find books, CDs, DVDs, and puzzles to fill your leisure hours at great prices at this year’s sale. New this year, buy a special Friends of the Library bag and get as many books as you can fit inside of it for free. Bags are available only while supplies last. This program is a Friends of the Library fundraiser.

The premiere of a video of graduates sharing their memories of Ely Memorial High School will be held on Wednesday, June 26 at 7 p.m. at the Ely Historic State Theater. The video is a collection of interviews with 13 graduates who attended Ely Memorial High School from the 1940s through 2024. The video is part of an oral histories project developed by the City of Ely’s Heritage Preservation Commission. The evening’s program will include a discussion of the history of the High School lead by the Ely-Winton Historical Society.

Every Tuesday at 9 a.m. there is a group that helps take care of the flower gardens at Whiteside Park. Come meet fellow gardeners and exchange plants.

Northwoods Partners Caregiver Support Group meets the third Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon at the Ely Senior Center.

New closed AA meeting; primary purpose men’s group. Will be held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 226 E. Harvey St.

The Ely Senior Bridge League has a weekly session of bridge starting at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Ely Senior Center, front room. Reservations are recommended. Call Terry Cooper at 651-230-2117 for more information.
