…as it is, I will address two points
Dear Editor, If I weren’t busy planting flowers, I would write in detail in response to Nancy McReady’s letter in the May 25 edition of the Echo. As it is, I will address two points.
First, Hansjorg Wyss is a wealthy citizen of a country other than the United States who understands that the wild public lands of the United States are priceless and irreplaceable. He has chosen to spend part of his fortune to help protect those lands for enjoyment by future generations and for the health of the planet.
Andronico Luksic of Antofagasta and his family are wealthy citizens of a country other than the United States (by some accounts, they are the wealthiest people in South America) who are not satisfied with the billions they have and want to grab even more by exploiting in a destructive and irreparable manner minerals, land, and water owned by the people of the United States.
It’s hard to know what to say to someone who doesn’t see the difference.
Second, Ms. McReady asserts that the Wyss Foundation is “politically connected.” Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner lived in a Washington, D.C. house owned by the Luksics.
