BABBITT CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING May 21, 2024 SUMMARY MINUTES (Full text of the minutes are available at City Hall during normal office hours.)

1. The Regular Meeting of the Babbitt City Council was called to order at 5:00 p.m.

2. Present were Councilors Anderson, Hoheisel, Lassi, White, and Mayor Lossing 3. Also present were Clerk-Treasurer Jaeger and City Attorney Brunfelt 4. Motion carried to authorize additions and deletions.

5. Motion carried to approve the consent agenda.

6. Cathy Hoheisel, Elaine Postudensek, and Wendy Schlueter spoke during public input regarding record retention in the administrative office. 7. MayorLossingreadastatement from Senator Hauschild regarding funding received for the ambulance and recreation departments.

8. Motion carried to authorize additions and deletions.

9. Motion carried to approve the consent agenda.

10.Discussion regarding employee credit card usage and meal reimbursement policies. 11.Motion rescinded to accept quote to replace exterior lighting at the Municipal Center.

12.Motion carried to gather quotes for labor of replacing exterior lighting at the Municipal

14.Motion carried to purchase a new police vehicle.

15.Motion carried to hire parttime patrolman,BennetSauve. 16.Motion carried to repair police department Durango.

17.Motion rescinded to hire Emily Jaeger, Nicholas Arntz, Travis Erickson, Christine Jarvis, and Jake Eckman to the Fire Department.

18.Motion carried to hire Emily Jaeger, Nicholas Arntz, Travis Erickson, and Christine Jarvis to the Fire Department.

19.Motion carried to authorize table and chair rentals.

20.Motion carried to accept Troy Mealey’s resignation from the Police Department.

21.Discussion regarding an ordinance for the boat launch. 22.Discussion regarding an upcoming regional meeting for the Coalition of Greater MN Cities.

23.Motion carried to hire Logan Meskill, Shiela Moravitz, Danny Daniels, and Matthew Bock for Recreation Department’s 2024 Summer help.

24.Motion carried to hire Camden Warren and Danica Sundblad for Street Department’s 2024 Summer Help.

25.The Ambulance Department will be selling food at the arena for the Walleye Whamma on June 8, 2024.

26.Motion carried to authorize department heads to host an auction.

27.The Regular Meeting of the Babbitt City Council was recessed at 6:23 to entire into closedsessionunderMNSTAT 13D.05, subd.2 for Clerk-Treasurer Jaeger’s probationary review.

28.The Regular Meeting of the Babbitt City Council was reconvened at 7:43 p.m.

29.Motion carried to remove Clerk-Treasurer Jaeger from probation.

30.City Attorney Brunfelt reminded Mayor Lossing that a recap of the closed session needs to be presented at the next council meeting, omitting any sensitive information.

31.The next council meeting is June 4, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

32.Motion carried to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m.
