The Sisu Heritage organization in Embarrass, is getting ready for National Sauna Day on June 8.
Sisu Heritage was formed in 1987. The group is an affiliate of the St. Louis County Historical Society that focuses mainly on the Finnish heritage.
The event is held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nelimark Homestead at Hwy. 21 and Salo Road in Embarrass.
This year’s sauna day will feather live music from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. featuring Bill and Kate Isles.
The event features free admission, is family friendly and is held rain or shine.
Saunas will be on display and for sale from various vendors. Saunas will also be available for purchase along with sauna stoves and accessories.
A pulled pork meal will be available along with squeaky cheese. There will be a boot throwing game and baby goats.
At 1 p.m. there will be a tour of local saunas.
The event is sponsored by Sisu Heritage along with Embarrass-Vermilion Credit Union, Lamppa Manufacturing of Tower, Mealey’s Gift and Sauna Shop in Ely, Lakehead Constructors, C&C Winger and Trapline Liquor and Convenience.

The Nelimark Museum is also open to visitors Thursday through Saturday June through September.
Sisu Heritage is also planning a Community Night Out at the Seitaniemi Homestead. It goes from 4-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8. There will be a free concert, and donations collected will go toward the renovation of the building. Chili and pie for sale.
