My dad Donald Holcomb worked for Paul& Edna Summer right out of high school in the 50's as a guide. Met my mom Patrica Bydlon Holcomb who's brother Andrew "Andy" Bydlon owned a resort on Basswood Lake.wish I could get more pictures- history of that Resort on Basswood Lake.

Recently, I received some of the Ely Echo in a package from a local store. As a lover of the printed newspaper, I read those four pages immediately. The editorial by Mr. Coombe entitled "City Hall loses its conscience" was an excellent piece. It made me wish that I had traveled to MN to meet Mr. Whalen before his passing and has inspired me to want to be a more active citizen in my home of Dahlonega, GA. Happy New Year.
