ORDINANCE NO. 306, 2nd Series
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELY, MINNESOTA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 3, SECTION 3.08

THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ELY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Section 3.08, of the City Code of the City of Ely, Minnesota is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 3.08. POINT OF SALE CERTIFICATION.

Subd. 1. Scope and Intent . The provisions of this Section shall apply to all real estate which is connected to the City’s sanitary sewer and located within the City. It is the intent of this ordinance to identify and eliminate inflow and infiltration resulting from cracked and leaking pipes, foundation drain connections, roof drain connections, and sump pump connections.

Subd. 2. Definitions. For the purpose of this Section, the following terms are defined as follows:

A. Buyer: Any person or entity who purchases a Property or to whom title to a Property is conveyed.

PUBLIC HEARING
January 17, 2017 - City Hall, Council Chambers

Call to Order:
Mayor Novak called the public hearing to order at 4:47pm.

Roll Call:
PRESENT: Council Members A.Forsman, Kess, Debeltz, Omerza, Callen, and Mayor Novak
ABSENT: Council Member D.Forsman

Purpose:
To hear public comment concerning Ordinance 306 - Point of Sale

Mayor Novak opened the hearing for public comment.

Kate Davies a Broker from Bear Island Land Company stated that she had talked to several realtors and the concerns that they have is the timeframe for remedy. Davies stated that there should be a longer timeframe for fixing any issues. Currently the Ordinance has a 6 month time frame; Davies stated that it should be a minimum of 12 months with money in escrow.

Adjourn:
Mayor Novak Adjourned the meeting at 4:53pm without objection.

You’re Invited to Attend

The City of Ely invites the public to attend our Blandin Broadband Community Vision meeting where priorities will be set and projects developed to improve Internet access and use in the Ely Area.

Last November, the Ely Area was named one of ten Blandin Broadband Communities, a program that provides planning, technical and financial support to communities that demonstrate the determination to bring the benefits of a broadband enabled economy to their communities. These ten communities will have access to a special $750,000 grant fund, but projects will have to meet Blandin Foundation standards to be funded.

Clerk Langowski gave the “Oath of Office to Mayor Chuck Novak, Council members Paul Kess, Jerome Debeltz and Ryan Callen at 5:15pm.

1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Novak called the Regular City Council Meeting to order at 5:30pm.

Highway 88 Bridge Replacement Meeting at TOWN OF MORSE

Highway 88 Bridge
Replacement Meeting at TOWN OF MORSE

At the regular meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 the Board of Supervisors will discuss the proposed Highway 88 bridge replacement. This project is expected to take place in the summer of 2017 and could involve closures of the highway. Representatives from St. Louis County will be present to discuss the project and answer questons.

The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Morse Town Hall.
