Elyite killed in Florida float plane crash

First Coast News in Jacksonville, Florida reported Wednesday that Patrick Magie, 56, was killed in a float plane crash into a river Tuesday night near Crescent City.
“The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Michael Martin from Georgetown, Florida and Patrick Magie, 56, from Cordova, Alaska, died after their Kodiak 100 aircraft landed in the river near the Fort Gates Ferry around 7:29 p.m. It was upside down when authorities responded,” according to First Coast News.
Martin was piloting the plane and Magie was the only passenger, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The plane is privately owned and is an 8-to-10 passenger plane. The plane took off from Mt. Royal Airport around 3 p.m.
Magie was a 1980 graduate of Ely Memorial High School.
