Paulette (Polly) Krueger, 78, of Babbitt, dies

Paulette (Polly) Krueger, 78, of Babbitt, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 14, 2017 with her loving family at her side.
She was born on May 22, 1939 in Bemidji, MN. At an early age her family moved to Taconite, MN where her father was employed in the natural ore mines. They later moved to Babbitt where she completed high school graduating in Ely with class of 1957.
In 1958 she married Dave Kumferman and moved to the north side of Birch Lake where they raised their family. After her husband’s death, she worked in the home health care field for several years.
In 2006, she married Bill Krueger of Babbitt where they have made their home since that time.
Polly’s greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family, agate hunting along the North Shore, her flowers, fishing and playing cards with the gals.
Polly joined the Babbitt Lions Club and became a very active member. She was a member of several committees and helped on numerous club projects. In addition to being the club chaplain for 13 years, she has received the Helen Keller Award and also the Melvin Jones Award.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, daughter Gina of Babbitt, son John (Stacy) of Eau Claire, son Dan (Debbie) of Babbitt and stepson Ted of Ely; grandsons: Matt, Eric (Crystal), Josh and Tyler, granddaughters: Jessie (Ebon), Jaymee (Nick), and Nicki.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Dave, brothers Mervin and Bruce, sisters: Val, Carol, Arvilla, Amy and Kathy. She will be sadly missed by her family, her many friends and her little dog Lovie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Lions Club of Babbitt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Kerntz Funeral Home with visitation being held one hour prior.
Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
